Welcome to the updated routing experience! We have made several improvements to our routing capabilities, most notably introducing the ability to save your routes and optimize your daily travel.
1. Accessing the New Route Builder
The most immediate change you will notice is where routing is located within the app.
The route builder is no longer located at the bottom of the "Places" page.
To access your routes, tap the side menu icon located in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Select Routes, which is conveniently listed right underneath the "Team Activity" tab.
This will bring you to the main Routes dashboard, where you can view any routes you have saved, your recently driven routes, and your created routes.
2. Creating a New Route
When you are ready to plan your day, creating a new route takes just a few taps.
Tap the + symbol in the upper-right corner of the Routes dashboard.
Assign a Name to your route (for example, "Monday") so you can easily identify it later.
You also have the option to add a Description to provide extra context for your plan.
3. Adding Stops (Four Different Methods)
Once your route is named, you need to add the locations you plan to visit. Tap the + symbol in the bottom-right corner to open the add menu. You have several options to pull in stops: Places, Contacts, Address, Calendar, and Select on Map.
Method 1: From Your Places
Selecting Places brings up a complete list of your saved accounts and locations.
You can manually search for a specific account using the search bar.
If you prefer a visual approach, tap the blue View Map button at the bottom of the screen.
On the map view, red pins indicate available accounts, while blue pins indicate locations you have already added to your route.
You can tap the lasso icon in the upper-right corner to draw a circle around a cluster of accounts, adding all of them to your route at once.
When finished, tap Done in the upper right to finalize these stops.
Method 2: By Specific Address
Select Address from the add menu to manually enter a destination.
Type in the exact address (such as your home or office).
Once added to your list, you can tap and drag this stop to reorder it—for example, dragging your office to the top of the list so it serves as your starting point for the day.
Method 3: From Your Calendar
Select Calendar to automatically pull in locations from your scheduled visits.
Swipe to the correct date.
Select the scheduled appointments you want to visit, then tap Add to Route.
Method 4: Dropping a Pin on the Map
Select Select on Map to choose a location that might not have a formal address saved in your system (like a restaurant for an after-work dinner).
Drag the map screen until the target pin is hovering over your exact desired location.
Tap the Select Stop button at the bottom to add it to your route.
4. Previewing and Optimizing Your Day
Now that all your stops are listed, it is time to make sure your route is as efficient as possible.
Tap the Preview button at the bottom of the screen to view your route exactly as you built it. This view will show you the total distance and drive time of the unoptimized path.
To save time, tap the Optimize button instead.
The app will automatically reorder your stops into the most logical geographic path, displaying exactly how many minutes and miles you saved by optimizing.
Once you are happy with the route, tap Save in the upper-right corner to lock it in.
5. Hitting the Road
When it is time to start your workday, your saved routes make navigation seamless.
Select your saved route from the main Routes dashboard.
If necessary, tap the refresh icon to pull in the latest route conditions and traffic updates.
Tap the Go! button next to your first destination.
A menu will pop up asking for your preferred navigation method: Apple Maps, Google Maps, or copying the address.
Once you have navigated to the client using your maps app, you can return to the routing app, tap on the account name, and log your activity or check in for the visit.
